Screenhouse is a factual TV production company based in Leeds, UK, working around the world. We specialise in science, specialist factual and popular factual content. We also produce corporate video for global customers.

We are trusted suppliers of VTs to BBC1's flagship week night topical programme, "The One Show". We're in our 5th year of commissioned films, with our biggest slate so far. We recently won an award in the Entertainment category from the "MIND" mental health media awards. Our slate of some 50 VTs include films with e.g. Dan Snow, Angela Rippon, Giles Brandreth and Angelica Bell on topics such as "Lee Miller: The Woman in Hitler's Bathtub", "Sinking the Athenia; the first war crime of WW2", "How a Hedge Can Save Your Life", "Vegan Dogs; is their diet healthy?".

We are commissioned, and in production, for BBC documentaries on peak time single film. We originated and co-produced an investigation for Channel 4's flagship current affairs strand, "Dispatches", into "The Truth Behind the Gender Pay Gap".

Screenhouse has a number of projects in development for UK terrestrial channels.

We frequently champion stories about diversity, under-represented groups, equality and are keen to develop new, diverse talent both on and off screen.

We've had a fully funded drama development from Channel 4 inspired by a true but untold story about three remarkable women, all of them with a disability.

Multi-award-winning producers in television, online content for UK and international channels and platforms. We have produced hundreds of hours of television mainly for BBC, BBC Regional, BBC Bitesize, also for Ch4 and ITV, Discovery, UKTV and others.

We've won awards for many of our productions, including Royal Television Society Yorkshire Production Company of the Year, RTS for BBC Daytime, Cine Golden Eagle, World Media Award and many more.

We specialise in popular science series including "The Cosmos: A Beginner's Guide" for the BBC and Open University. We made fast-turnaround space series "Stardate", live or as live from Mission Control in Europe or the USA, for Discovery Science USA and the BBC. Check out the production pages for a heritage of science broadcasting stretching back to 1991.

Screenhouse Productions Limited was set up in 1991 by Paul Bader, who is now Creative Director. He has been joined on the board by Chief Executive Barbara Govan.

The company was initially formed to make Local Heroes, the popular series in which Adam Hart-Davis cycled the country in pursuit of (dead) pioneers of science and invention. Two series were originally made for Yorkshire Television, then in 1994 we sold the series to the BBC2 where it ran for six more series covering over 200 heroes.
