Ringside was established in 2020 by Gub Neal, the award-winning producer of The Fall and former founder of Artists Studio and Box TV. The company was established as a joint venture with leading French distributor Newen to create innovative, ground-breaking and premium content for the UK and international market.

Scripted television talent in the UK is amongst the foremost in the world. Ringside, as well as producing its own content, will work with established UK talent through its own investment fund to support these companies and individuals create their own content, maximise the potential of their IP and grow their own businesses.

The Ringside Media group now consists of five companies; Fictionhouse, a company with Kate Horton and Dominic Cooke; B Side Film & TV, under Matimba Kabalika and linked to B Side Management Agency run by Sam Fox; Slate Entertainment, which is lead by Hal Vogel; Further South Productions, led by Steve November and Sarah Conway; and Joi Productions, run by Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor. Together with Ringside, these companies will form an ambitious creative ecosystem and offer an alternative way of producing at the highest level to studio-driven models.

Ringside recently released My Name is Leon on BBC2, a drama written by Shola Amoo, directed by Lynette Linton and based on Kit de Waal's best-selling novel of the same name. Set in 1980s Britain, it tells the story of a 9-year-old Leon discovering a new family where he least expects it. The show captivated 1.5 million viewers in the UK, making it BBC2's number one drama for this year.

Ringside are currently in post production for a major international show called Liaison for Apple. Other projects are in advanced development and pre-production with some of the UK’s most prestigious writers and directors.
