Northern Ireland Screen is the government-backed lead agency in Northern Ireland for the film, television and digital content industry, driving global growth through boosting our economy, celebrating our culture and enhancing our children’s education. 

As the national screen agency for Northern Ireland, we are committed to maximising the economic, cultural and educational value of the screen industries to the benefit of Northern Ireland. This goal is pursued through our mission to accelerate the development of a dynamic and sustainable screen industry and culture in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland Screen provides focused intervention in 6 key areas:

Northern Ireland Screen is a company limited by guarantee, currently employing 21 people and we are governed by a Board of thirteen directors. The Chairman is Rick Hill and Kenneth Branagh is Honorary President.

It is primarily funded by Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI) and part financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland, Department of Culture Arts and Leisure (DCAL) and the UK Film Council (UKFC) and it is delegated by the Arts Council of NI (ACNI) to administer Lottery funding for film in Northern Ireland.

Our unique and effective intellectual property (IP) regime has led to our industry adopting the ability to use IP to meet consumer demand across a much wider range of media platforms, consumer devices and formats than ever before.

Scottish Development International

Scottish Development International (SDI) works to attract inward investment and knowledge to Scotland to help the economy grow. It also helps Scottish companies to do more business overseas and promote Scotland as a good place to live, work and do business. It is jointly operated by Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government, and its work is guided by the Scottish Government’s strategy for economic development in Scotland.

Wales Screen

Wales Screen is a small but dedicated and knowledgeable team within the Creative Industries sector of the Welsh Government. Established in 2002 (as the Wales Screen Commission), we have assisted thousands of productions over the years. If you need any advice about locations or filming in Wales in general, please get in touch.

Wales Screen works with international and domestic projects of all shapes and sizes from short films to feature films, photo-shoots to commercials, documentaries to dramas, and provides invaluable assistance to productions filming in Wales.

We can help with:

  • Sourcing freelance crew
  • Sourcing facility companies (catering, lighting, equipment hire etc.)
